I like to try new things so I’m always ordering something new from the menu. Of course, there are some favourites that I can’t help but order again and again like Edamame, Rainbow Maki, (strips of salmon, tuna, tai and avocado) or Canadian Maki, (lobster claw, smoked salmon, asparagus, kewpie and cucumber). A friend of mine however, sticks to the same order everytime; Edamame, Dragon Red Maki, Dragon Green Maki and a
A couple years ago a kitchen fire forced New Gen to shut down for a few months. Whereas most closed restaurants would be passed by unnoticed, it was hard to miss the storefront that had been decorated with flowers and cards and well wishes from loyal customers who couldn’t wait for their favourite sushi spot to open again. Upon its relaunch New Gen resumed its spot on the Bloor strip as the sushi place with amazing food and line ups out the door until all hours of the night. And when you get 15% off take out orders, it’s hard not to call ahead when you know you’re going to be walking by on your way home. Is there a support group for Sushi Addicts Anonymous? I think I need help.

don't think i could help you.
i'd be right there next to you, waiting in line!
I love rainbow roll! Always eat it when I go home to Hawaii.
OH, I want sushi...right now! What an appetizing post. Mmm, red bean ice cream...
Brilynn, should you find a number for that support group, please share it with me!
I wish we had a place like New Gen around here; as is, we have to make our own when in the mood (in fact, we're having it tomorrow).
While we have a couple of places in town, none are 'wow'-worthy, and I very much miss Isobune in Oakland!
mmmmmmm sushiii loooks goooot
happy new yr :)
My daughter made some California rolls with crab, avocado & cucumber for guests over the holidays...they loved them!!!!!!
I should have took a car trip to Toronto when I still lived in the east coast of the States, have heard so many times about their famous seafood and international crusines! I'm poor in remembering names (esp foreign), but now seeing your description, I know what my favorite sushi is called (rainbow maki) :) :)
Happy New Year!
Hi dearie!
I've started a food forum for all floggers and foodies round the world. It just started today, and doesnt have any members yet.I have sent out emails to mose bloggers, though. I really hope you'll join too! It's a place we can discuss food, share recipes, troubleshoot recipes, post pix of stuff we've made etc. I aim to make it a chic environment filled with people who are extremely passionate about cooking and baking.

I love sushi! I enjoy trying new things too. It is fun and oh so tasty!!
I'm so happy to finally find a Torontonian's food blog!! ^^!
Is New Gen expensive? It sounds great though!
I'm a sushiaholic too! I could eat it every day, but I'd go broke! I learned how to make a few things at home from one of Steamy Kitchen's cooking classes, but it's not quite the same as going to a great sushi bar. Definitely our 1st choice on "date nights".
Let me know when you find a Sushi AA because I think I need help too....
Well, let's see I could come sample the menu with you and then we could evaluate if you really needed a support group or just some more help trying everything on the menu.
Looks like really beautiful foods.
Yes, I would be another who has to join that group :)
My must haves are always spicy tuna (can't get enough!) and toro, yummy! Now I am craving the stuff...oh well only one wayto fix that problem.
happy new year to you :-) wishing you the best of this year and more delicious culinary adventures to come
Happy new year!
I haven't had sushi in such a long time...I have memories of a great restaurant I went to in Arizona once where the food was cooked on your table - which was really fantastic!
