High Class Meets Comfort Food

As I’ve said before, I don’t like making decisions. When someone asks me to choose one thing over another, I’d rather have both. I like to have my cake and eat it too. Some may call that greedy, I call it enjoying the good things in life. Take this lobster macaroni and cheese for example, each component is delicious in its own right, but put them together and you quadruple the goodness, (it’s mathematically proven). Ordinarily lobster isn’t something that I have sitting in my fridge, but it was on sale we bought up a whole bunch of them. Instead of stuffing myself silly, as I usually do when lobster’s involved, I saved some to savour the following day. And I sure am glad I did, lobster mac and cheese is truly the best of both worlds. It’s the Pretty Woman story of the food world, (Richard Gere would play the lobster, Julia Roberts the mac and cheese). Everyday mac and cheese is ready for a night on the town when it’s paired with fancy lobster.

There’s no recipe for this one, I just threw it together. As usual, I made it with a ‘Go Big or Go Home’ attitude and included lots of good things like butter and flour to make a roux, old cheddar, parmesan, heavy cream and a splash of white wine. No matter how much you make, you will wish there was more.

This looks so amazingly good! And I love thinking of the lobster as Richard Gere and the Mac-n-Cheese as Julia Roberts. Very funny!

Honestly, I don't know why Italians don't mix cheese and seafood -- I think it's a great combination, and this dish looks amazing!

That looks luscious! Love the hi-lo mix...whether it be in food or fashion :) I already wish there was more...more for me!

Just had the most amazing lobster at the beach...gosh, now wish I had leftovers...

There is a high end restaurant here hat serves a lobster mac'n cheese and my mom can vouch that the combo is creamy goodness at its best. By the look of yours, I can say it sure seems to be a winning combo. I doubt I'd be able to stop at one serving.

Brilynn, I totally agree with the quadruple goodness!!! There's a speciality in my country - lobster laden with cheese sauce, the whole thing flaunted on noodles! That is such insanely good that totally defies the logic of seafood not going well with cheese. Now let me go taste your Richard... I mean lobster

Brilynn, I relate to that so much, my friend! It's always so hard for me to make decisions, it takes me forever to choose one recipe to cook, for instance.

Love, love, love the "Pretty Woman" thing. You always go big, sweetie. :)

That looks beautiful. The lobster looks so perfect. I love the little sea bugs in as many ways as I can get them.

My whole family said, "Leftover lobster??? What is that?" Your lobster mac & cheese is totally droolworthy!

Oh, this looks certainly homey but then the lobster certainly adds that fine dining side. Great combo Brilynn!

Sounds delicioust! Love the Pretty Woman reference. Incidentally I learned something new, I've seen mac and cheese written on a few blogs and in my total ingnorance I thought it meant burger with cheese from that fast food place. Terrible and I'm truly shamed! Atleast I know now. Thank you
